About Rhode Island
Rhode Island is the smallest state in the union but one of the most historically dense — the birthplace of American religious freedom, the Industrial Revolution in America, and home to the Gilded Age's most spectacular summer 'cottages.' Founded by Roger Williams after his expulsion from Puritan Massachusetts, Rhode Island has always been defined by independence of thought and stubborn contrarianism, extending to being the last original colony to ratify the Constitution and the first to declare independence from Britain.
